The first issue of the journal appeared in the year 1963 under the name Annals of the West University of Timisoara, Mathematical and Physical Sciences Series. Under this name the journal was published annually and on a regular basis until the year 1969. Starting from 1970 and up to 1981, the journal was published as the Annals of the West University of Timisoara, Physical and Chemical Sciences Series and from 1982 up to 2001, the journal appeared under the name Annals of the West University of Timisoara, Physical Sciences Series. Fromm 2002 and up to the present day, the journal is being published in a new graphical format as the Annals of the West University of Timisoara, Physics Series.
Since the year 1982, the articles published within the journal, as well as their results, are written in English. We also have to mention that the Publishing Board includes some prestigious names, both from Romania as well as internationals, in the field of Physics such as E. Burzo (Romania), M. Kibler (France), D. Schiller (Germany), L. Kuliuk (The Republic of Moldavia), P. Fannin (Ireland) and others.
The journal has always played an important role in the national scientific community and every year since its founding it has been published annually (1 or 2 volumes) as per approved planning. The journal is sent to many universities and research centers from other countries as part of an exchange for numerous other materials (journals, preprints, books, etc.) for our University.
The articles accepted for printing satisfy certain standards of exigence and as such, those who publish articles in it are physicists from many other countries outside Romania (Russia, Japan, Ireland, The European Community, etc.).
